Charter Scout Troops
For 115 years, Scouting America has helped young people grow into well-rounded, capable adults. Youth are given opportunities to participate in a wide variety of experiences and learning opportunities while enjoying adventures indoors and out. As part of our motto, Serving the Children of the World, the Kiwanis Club of Waterloo is proud to be a Charter Partner with Scouting America for two troops serving youth with disabilities. Troop 99B and Troop 99G were formed in 2024 to serve youth in the Cedar Valley and surrounding communities. Troop leaders are experienced in working with children with disabilities. The Troops meet once a week to learn and practice their Scouting skills while developing their leadership skills. We’d like to thank Allen College for their generosity in providing a meeting place for the Troops.
Scouts are encouraged and challenged to advance through the ranks of Scouting, from Tenderfoot to Eagle at their own pace while learning leadership skills and teamwork. Our Troops are always welcoming new members. If you know a child (age 11 – 17) who is interested in becoming a Scout, please contact our partner, Winnebago Council, at 319-234-2867.
Troops 99 B&G Together. First Row, L-R: Anya (kneeling), Noah, Darius, Isaiah. Second Row, L-R: Sam, Gavin, Leader Rebecca VanDerJagt, Leader Sarah Estus. Third Row, L-R: Kylar, Ryan, Leader Christen O’Connor, Leader Stacey Ward, Leader Jason Oldakowski, Michael.
Our shelter participants are in URGENT need of basic living supplies — especially TOWELS.
Because we shelter individuals in temporary shelter sites across 12 different counties, we’re able to support people where they are rather than asking them to travel to us. This model helps us meet people in their moment of crisis, but it also brings new challenges. Many participants arrive with almost nothing after fleeing crisis situations. We can provide safe shelter, but they still need basic items for daily living.
Your generosity makes this possible. If you’re able, please donate the supplies listed — your support goes directly to individuals and families rebuilding their lives. Donations can be dropped off at our Waterloo office (1009 People's Square) Monday - Thursday 8am - 4pm. You can also donate monetary donations via our website or Venmo (@friendsofthefamily).
